Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Gridlock Granny Square!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this motif

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! And how to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here!

There are several ways to start this motif. You can use the Magic Ring/Circle/Loop, I have a tutorial here! The Chain 4 method, I have a tutorial here! Or the Slip Stitch Method, I have a tutorial here!

I will be using the Chain 4 Method for my tutorial

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: Make a Circle,

I used the CH 4 method for my circle

I made 4 CHs, SL ST'd into the 4th CH to make a circle space

Then make 1 CH

Make 1 SC into the circle space

*Make 2 CHs, this will be our corner spaces

Make 1 SC into the circle space

Repeat the steps above from * until reach the 1st CH you made in this row

You should have 4 sets of SC for each square side and 4 sets of 2 CHs for each corner space

SL ST into that 1st CH to complete this row

Row 2: Start at any corner space, make 1 CH

Make 1 SC into same space

Make 2 CHs, this will be our new corner space

Make 1 SC into same corner space

*Make 1 CH to skip the next SC

Into next corner space: 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC

Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the 1st CH you made in this row, SL ST into that CH to complete this row

Row 3: Start at any corner space, make 1 CH

*Make 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC into this same corner space

The corner space will be the same throughout the pattern

Make 1 CH to skip 1 SC

Make 1 SC into the next previous CH 1 space
You'll have more of these side spaces to work into as your square gets bigger

Repeat the steps above from * around until you reach the 1st CH you made in this row

SL ST into that starting CH to complete this row

You would now repeat Row 3 for how big you want your square

This is what my Gridlock Granny Square should look like when completed!
