Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example blanket
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example blanket – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Notes:
I Fasten Off each row to change colors:

To keep your square/blanket straight, flip your work every row
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Slip Stitch (SL ST):

Double Crochet Stitch (DC):

Pattern:
Row 1: CH 4, 1 DC into 4th CH from your hook, *CH 2, DC, CH 1, repeat from * until you have 8 DC made total, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made in this row to complete
Row 2: (Start at corner space, previous CH 2 space) CH 6, 1 DC into same space, *DC V into next space, (DC, CH 4, DC) into next space, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made in this row to complete
Row 3: (Start at corner space, previous CH 3 space) *DC V, CH 4, DC V into same corner space, SK to next previous DC V, DC V into that space, SK to next corner space, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st DC V you made in this row to complete
Row 4: (Start at corner space) CH 4, DC into same space, CH 4, DC V into same space, *SK to space between previous DC V STs, DC V into that space, Make DC Vs into each space between previous DC V STs until you reach the next corner space, (DC V, CH 4, DC V) into corner space, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st DC V you made in this row to complete
Repeat Row 4 for however long you want your project
Border:
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Single Crochet Stitch (SC):
Double Crochet Stitch (DC):
Row 1: (Start at corner space) CH 3, 6 DC into same corner space, *1 SC into next previous DC V space, CH 3, SK to next previous DC V space, repeat from * for each side. At the corners: make 7 DC into those corner spaces.
