Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: The Shasta Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on the Shasta Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! And how to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains

 

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: 1 SC into 2nd CH

Make 1 CH, Skip 1 CH

Make 1 SC into the next CH

*Make 1 CH, Skip 1 CH

Make 1 SC into the next CH

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of Row 1

Row 2: Make 1 CH

Skip 1st ST, into previous CH 1 space make 1 SC

Make 1 SC into the SC your just made

*Skip to next CH 1 space, make 1 SC

Make 1 SC into the SC your just made

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 ST left

Make 1 SC into the last ST of Row 2

Row 3: Make 1 CH

Make 1 SC into the 1st ST

Make 1 CH, Skip 1 ST

Make 1 SC into the next ST

*Make 1 CH, Skip 1 ST

Make 1 SC into the next ST

Repeat from * for the rest of Row 3

Alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
