Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a my version of a solid granny square blanket! Very easy to make using basic crochet stitches and would look great in any color scheme!
This is a great beginner pattern for any one wanting to learn crochet! I also included a lovely border that adds some texture when finishing this blanket up.


Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/Aran weight for my example blanket
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example blanket – 5.0 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Notes:
I Fasten Off each row to change colors, tutorial here!
To keep your square straight, flip your work every row
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Slip Stitch (SL ST):
Magic Ring/Circle/Loop:
Chain 4 Starting Method:
Slip Stitch Starting Method:
Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC):
Double Crochet Stitch (DC):
Puff Stitch (Puff):
Picot Stitch (PS): CH 3, SL ST
Pattern:
Pick your favorite way to start a circle or square: Magic Circle/Ring/Loop, Chain 4 method, Slip Stitch method
Row 1: Make circle, 2 DC into center of circle, CH 2, *3 DC into circle, CH 2, Repeat from * 2 more times, SL ST into first DC stitch made in this row
Row 2: CH 3, 1 DC in top right corner space, 1 DC in next two stitches across, *2 DC in open corner space, CH 2, 2 DC in same corner space, 1 DC in each ST across until you reach corner space, repeat from * around square, SL ST into first CH 3 made in this row
Row 3: CH 3, 1 DC in top right corner space, 1 DC in each stitch across until you reach the corner, *2 DC in open corner space, CH 2, 2 DC in same corner space, 1 DC in each ST across until you reach corner space, repeat from * around square, SL ST into first CH 3 made in this row Repeat row 3 until you reach your desired length
Border:
Row 1: Use the Crochet Linen Stitch, tutorial here; at each corner work: 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC into the corner space
Row 2: 1 Puff Stitch into space of previous Linen Stitch row, make 1 CH between each Puff ST, at corners work: 1 HDC ST, 1 PS into top of HDC just made, CH 1, 1 PS into CH 1 just made, CH 1, 1 HDC into same corner space
