Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Interlocking Block Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! And how to make Double Crochet Stitches (DC), I have a tutorial here!

To begin you will make a even number of chains + 3 chains for turning

To start your 1st row work 1 DC into the 3rd CH from your hook, *CH 2, Skip 2 CHs, 1 DC in the next 2 CHs, repeat from * until the end of your row

You will then work these 2 rows that I will go through now:

To start a row that has a 'block' or 2 DC under it, you will CH 2 then skip over that 'block'

Work 1 DC over the previous CH 2 space, into the top of the DC underneath it (Shown Above)

Same thing for the next DC, work 1 DC over the previous CH 2 space, into the top of the DC underneath it

*Then make 2 CHs + skip over the next 'block' or 2 DC underneath

Work the next 2 DC just like the last 2 over the previous CH 2 in the row underneath, into the tops of the DC underneath

Repeat from * until you reach the end of your row

At the end of your row (when it ends with a 'block' underneath) CH 2

Then SL ST that CH 2 into the last ST

To start a row that has a space made from a previous CH 2, make 1 DC over that CH 2 into the top of the DC underneath it

Same with this next DC, make 1 DC over that CH 2 into the top of the DC underneath it

CH 2 + Skip over the 'block'

Work the next 2 DC just like the last 2 over the previous CH 2 in the row underneath, into the tops of the DC underneath

Repeat from * until you reach the end of your row

When you reach the end of your row, work the next 2 DC just like the last 2 over the previous CH 2 in the row underneath, into the tops of the DC underneath

You would then alternate between these 2 rows for any future rows made

This is what the Interlocking Block Stitch should look like when completed!
