Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a new free pattern from me! My Diamond Twist Blanket features a bunch of cute diamond granny squares! 💎

So fun and easy to make!

You can adapt this pattern to any size!

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:

 

Materials:

Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example square/blanket

Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example square/blanket – 5.5 MM

Scissors

Stitch Markers


Notes:

I Fasten Off each row to change colors:

To keep your squares straight, flip your work every other row


Crochet Stitches Needed:

Chain – CH

Stitch – ST

Skip – SK

Pattern:

Pick your favorite way to start a circle/square, playlist above!


Row 1: Make circle, CH 3, 2 DC into center of circle, CH 3, *3 DC into circle, CH 3, Repeat from * 2 more times, SL ST into first DC stitch made in this row


You’ll have 4 sides of 3 DC and 4 corners of CH 3


Row 2: (Start at any corner space) CH 3, 2 DC, CH 3, 3 DC all into that corner space, *CH 1, SK 3 STs, 3 DC into the next open space, CH 1, SK 3, (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) into the next corner space, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row


Row 3: (Start at any corner space) CH 5, 1 SC into same space, *CH 3, SK to next CH space, make 1 SC into that space, CH 3, SK to next corner space, (1 SC, CH 4, 1 SC) into that space, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row


Row 4: (Start at any previous side middle SC) (CH 3, 3 DC, CH 3, 4 DC) all into that ST, *CH 2, SK to next corner space, 1 SC into that space, CH 2, SK to next previous side SC, (4 DC, CH 3, 4 DC) into that ST, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row


Row 5: (Start at any corner space) CH 3, 2 DC, CH 3, 3 DC all into that space, *CH 1, SK to next CH space, 3 DC into that space, repeat from * for each side. Corner spaces: (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) into those spaces, SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row


Repeat Row 5 for how big you want your square(s)


  • I made 5 rows for each square

  • I joined my squares using the Mesh Stitch Join As You Go Method:

  • I used CH 4, to skip any side STs, 1 SC into those CH spaces, Corners: (1 SC, CH 4, 1 SC) for the Mesh Stitch Join As You Go Method


For the JAYG method:

I made my 1st SQ with 5 rows total, then used the Mesh JAYG method to join the rest together


  • I made a total of 72 squares (8X9)

  • You can use any join you want for your blanket, I have a playlist featuring more here!
