Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example blanket
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a ‘I’ hook for my example blanket – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Double Crochet Stitch (DC):

Pattern:
Make chains in the multiple of 6, I made 156 CHs for my example blanket
Row 1: 1 DC into the 9th CH from your hook, 1 DC into next CH X3, *CH 2, SK 2 CHs, 1 DC into each of the next 4 CHs, repeat from * for the rest of this row
Row 2: CH 3, SK 1 ST, 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs, *CH 2, SK previous CH space, 1 DC into each of the next 4 STs, repeat from * until you reach the last open space of this row, CH 2, 1 DC into that last open space
Row 3: CH 3, *2 DC into open space, 1 DC into next ST, CH 2, SK 2 STs, 1 DC into the next ST, repeat from * for the rest of this row
Row 4: CH 5, SK 1 ST, SK open space, *1 DC into each of the next 4 STs, CH 2, SK previous CH space, repeat from * for the rest of this row
Row 5: CH 5, SK 3 STs, *1 DC into next ST, 2 DC into open space, 1 DC into next ST, CH 2, SK 2 Sts, repeat from * until you reach the last open space of this row, 3 DC into that last open space
Repeat Rows 2, 3, 4 & 5 in order for however long you want your project
