Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example blanket
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a ‘I’ hook for my example blanket – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Double Crochet Stitch (DC):

Pattern:
Make chains in the multiple of 4 + 3, I made 155 chains for my example blanket
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 5th CH from your hook, *SK 3 CHs, make 4 DC into the next CH, repeat from * for the rest of your row
Row 2: CH 3, *Skip to middle DC (3rd one) of previous 4 DC, make 1 DC into that ST, CH 2, make 1 DC into the ST to the right of the previous DC made, it will go over the previous one you just made, repeat from * until you reach the last ST of your row, make 1 DC into that ST
Row 3: CH 3, *SK to next previous CH 2 space, make 4 DC into that space, repeat from * until you reach the last ST of your row, make 1 DC into that ST
Alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
