Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example blanket
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example blanket – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Single Crochet Stitch (SC):

Pattern:
Make CHs in the multiple of 3 + 1, I made 157 CHs for my example blanket
Row 1: 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook, 1 DC into next CH, *CH 1, SK 1 CH, 1 DC into the next 3 CHs, repeat from * for the rest of your row
Row 2: CH 3, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, *CH 1, SK 1 ST, DC Spike into the previous CH 1 space, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, repeat from * for the rest of your row
Repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project
Last Row to close open holes/spaces: CH 1, 1 SC into each ST, 1 DC Spike into each open space
Border:
Row 1: 1 SC into each ST on the sides, 3 SC into each corner space
Row 2: (Start at corner ST) Make 2 CHs, 5 HDC into that same ST, *SK 2 STs, 1 HDC V into next ST, repeat from * for each side. At each corner: 6 HDC into that corner ST
