Only 1 square joined together
Gives me vintage feels and works up quickly

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example squares/blanket
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example squares/blanket – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers

Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK

Square Pattern:
Pick your favorite way to start a circle or square, playlist above!
Row 1: Make circle, CH 3, 2 DC into center of circle, CH 3, *3 DC into circle, CH 3, Repeat from * 2 more times, SL ST into first DC stitch made in this row
Row 2: CH 4, CH 1, SK ST connected to that CH 4 just made, *(2 DC, CH 3 2 DC) into next corner space, 1 DC into next ST, CH 1, SK 1 ST, 1 DC into next ST, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made in this row
Row 3: CH 4, *SK previous CH 1 space, 1 DC into each ST across to next corner space, (2 DC, CH 3, 2 DC) into that corner space, 1 DC into each CH across until previous CH 1 space, CH 1, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made in this row
Repeat Row 3 for how big you want your squares

I used the Zig Zag Slip Stitch Join to join my squares together:
