First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket pattern
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the SingleCrochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Triple Crochet Stitch (TR), tutorial here! And how to work in the Back Loops (BLO), tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 8 + 4. I made 156 chains for my example blanket
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 3rd CH from your hook
Make 1 DC into the next CH
*Make 1 TR into each of the next 2 CHs
Make 1 DC into each of the next 2 CHs
Make 1 SC into each of the next 2 CHs
Make 1 DC into each of the next 2 CHs
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
Row 2: CH 2, these CHs count as 1 DC, so you can skip the 1st ST
We'll be working in the Back Loops (BLO) of each ST we work into
Turn your work where you are looking at the top of each ST, the loop at the back of each ST is the Back Loop
(BLO): Make 1 DC into the next ST
*(BLO): Make 1 TR into each of the next 2 STs
(BLO): Make 1 DC into each of the next 2 STs
(BLO): Make 1 SC into each of the next 2 STs
(BLO): Make 1 DC into each of the next 2 STs
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
You would now repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project
This is what my Chill Wave Blanket should look like when completed!
