Photo Tutorial – Crochet Pattern: Whispers At Dusk Afghan!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Whispers At Dusk Afghan!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch, tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 4 for how wide you want your blanket, I made 152 chains for my example blanket

Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 3rd CH from your hook

Make 1 DC into the next CH

*Make 1 CH, skip 1 CH

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row

 

Row 2: Make 3 CHs (counts as 1 DC)

Skip 1st ST, make 1 DC into each of the next 2 STs

*Make 1 CH, skip previous CH space

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

 

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row

Row 3: Make 4 CHs

Skip 2 STs, *make 1 DC into the next ST

Make 1 DC Spike/Long DC into the CH space 2 rows down

Make 1 DC into the next ST

Make 1 CH, Skip 1 ST

 

Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 2 STs left

Make 1 CH, Skip 1 ST

Make 1 DC into the last ST to complete

Row 4: Make 4 CHs

Skip previous CH space, make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

 

*Make 1 CH to skip previous CH space

 

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Repeat the steps above until you have a CH space left in this row

Make 1 CH

Make 1 DC into that last open space to complete this row

Row 5: Make 3 CHs (counts as 1 DC)

Make 1 DC Spike/Long DC into the CH space 2 rows down

Make 1 DC into the next ST

*Make 1 CH, Skip 1 ST

1 DC into the next ST,

Make 1 DC Spike/Long DC into the CH space 2 rows down

1 DC into the next ST

Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 open space left in this row

Make 1 DC Spike/Long DC into the CH space 2 rows down

Make 1 DC into the same open space to complete this row

You would now repeat Rows 2, 3 ,4 & 5 in order for how long you want your blanket
