First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to work in the Back Loops (BLO), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook
*Make 1 HDC into the next CH
Make 1 DC into the next CH
Make 1 SL ST into the next CH
Make 1 SC into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 CH left
Make 1 SC into the last CH to complete this row
Row 2: Make 1 CH
Now we need to identify the Back Loops, turn your work where you can see the top of your stitches, the loop at the back of each ST is the Back Loop
We'll be making each ST on this row in the Back Loop of each ST across
(BLO) Make 1 SC into the 1st ST
*(BLO) Make 1 HDC into the next ST
*(BLO) Make 1 SL ST into the next ST
*(BLO) Make 1 SC into the next ST
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 ST left
(BLO) Make 1 SC into that last ST to complete this row
You would now repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project
This is what the Bumpy Road Stitch should look like when completed!
