Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Lined Up Spike Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Lined Up Spike Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Spike Stitch (DC SP), tutorial here!

 

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 4

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

 

Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook

Make 1 DC into each of the next 2 CHs

*Make 1 CH, skip 1 CH

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 CH left

Make 1 DC into that last CH to complete that row

Row 2: CH 2, these CHs count as 1 DC, skip the 1st ST

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

*Make 1 CH to skip the next CH space

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Repeat the steps above from * until you only have some CHs left

Make 1 DC into the top of those CHs to complete this row

Row 3: CH 1

*Make 1 SC into each ST until you reach a CH space

Make 1 DC SP into the CH space 2 rows down

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row

Row 4: CH 1

Make 1 SC into each ST across to complete this row

Row 5: CH 2, these CHs count as 1 DC, skip the 1st ST

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

*Make 1 CH, skip 1 ST

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row

 

 

You would now repeat Row 2, 3, 4 & 5 in order for however long you want your project

This is what the Lined Up Spike Stitch should look like when completed!
