Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Corner To Corner Half Double Crochet Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the C2C HDC Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! And how to make the Half Double Crochet Decrease (HDC DEC), tutorial here!

Row 1: Make 3 CHs

Make 2 HDC into the 3rd CH from your hook, the CH farthest from your hook

Row 2: Make 2 CHs

Make 2 HDC into the 1st ST

Make 1 HDC into the next ST

Make 2 HDC into the CH space at the end of this row

Increase Row: Make 2 CHs

 

Make 2 HDC into the 1st ST

Make 1 HDC into each ST until you reach the CH space at the end of your row

Make 2 HDC into that CH space at the end of this row

You would now repeat this Increase Row for how wide you want your square

Transition Row: Make 2 CHs

Make 1 HDC DEC over the 1st 2 STs

 

Then make 1 HDC into each ST and CH space at the end of this row

 

Decrease Row: Make 2 CHs

 

Make 1 HDC DEC over the 1st 2 STs

Make 1 HDC into each ST until you reach the last 2 STs in this row

 

Make 1 HDC DEC over the last 2 STs to complete this row

You would now repeat these Decrease Rows until you're ready to make the last row of your square

Last Row: You'll recognize this as your last row because you'll have 4 STs + 1 CH left at the end of this row, Make 2 CHs

Make 1 HDC DEC over the 1st 2 STs

Then make 1 HDC DEC over the last 2 STs

 

 Finish Square: Turn work, make 1 CH

SL ST into the last CH space on your square

  This is what the C2C HDC Stitch should look like when completed!
