Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Ellis Stitch!

 Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Ellis Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Single Crochet Increase (SC INC), tutorial here!

 

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 3

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

 

Row 1: Make 1 HDC into the 3rd CH from your hook

*Make 1 SC into the next CH

Make 1 SC into the next CH

Make 1 HDC into the next CH

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row

Row 2: Make 2 CHs

You'll be working the same sequence as the last row, but you'll be working in the Back Loop of each ST across

So to identify the back loop, turn your work where you are looking at the top of the stitches, the loop towards the back of your work on each ST is the Back Loop

*Make 1 SC into the next ST,

Make 1 SC into the next ST,

Make 1 HDC into the next ST

Repeat the step above from * for the rest of this row

 

You would now repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project

This is what the Ellis Stitch should look like when completed!
