Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Fern Lace Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch, (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet V Stitch (DC V), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 6 + 4
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 5th CH from your hook
Skip 4 CHs, make 1 DC V into the next CH
Then make 1 DC V into that same CH with the 1st DC V you made
So that's 2 in the same CH
*Skip 4 CHs, make 2 DC V into the next CH
Repeat the step above from * until you have 3 CH s left
Then skip to the last CH, make 1 DC V into that last CH to complete this row
Row 2: Make 4 CHs
Make 1 DC into the 1st ST
Skip the previous DC V
Make 1 DC V between STs
Skip the previous DC V
Make 1 DC V between STs
*Skip the previous DC V
Make 1 DC V between STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 DC V left in your row
Make 1 DC into the tops of the CHs at the end of your row
These CHs + 1 DC were acting as a DC V
Row 3: Make 4 CHs
Make 1 DC into the 1st ST
These CHs + 1 DC count as 1 DC V
Skip 1 DC V, make 1 DC V into the next one
Make 1 DC V into that same space as the DC V you just made
*Skip 1 DC V, make 2 DC V into the next one
Repeat the step above until you have 2 DC V left in your row
Skip 1 DC V, make 1 DC V into the next/last one
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Fern Lace Stitch should look like when completed!
