Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Half Double Crochet Twist Join to bring any crochet motifs together!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this tutorial
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make a Slip Knot, tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Half Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here!

To begin, you'll need some motifs/squares to join together
I'm using 2 Solid Granny Squares to join

Next, you'll make a Slip Knot, line up your squares, you'll take that Slip Knot through 1 corner of each square
So the square closest to you will be Square 1, the other will be Square 2
Into the 1st ST of Square 1, make 1 HDC
*Take your hook out of that ST, make sure to keep still so that HDC doesn't come undone
Grab that yarn, bring it through that 1st ST on Square 2, to complete that Half Double Crochet Twist Join
To start the next one: Make 1 HDC into the next ST on Square 1
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have the next corner spaces left
Make a SL ST into both of those last CH spaces to complete this join
This is what the Half Double Crochet Twist Join should look like when completed!
