Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Hearts & Cables Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch, (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Puff Stitch (PF ST), tutorial here! How to make the Front Post Double Crochet Stitch (FPDC), tutorial here! And how to make the Back Post Double Crochet Stitch (BPDC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 5 + 4
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 3rd CH from your hook
Make 1 DC into the next CH
*Skip 2 CHs, make 1 PF ST into the next CH
Make 1 CH to secure the PF ST
Make 1 PF ST into the same CH as the PF ST just made
Make 1 CH to secure that PF ST together
Skip 2 CHs, make 1 DC into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 5 CHs left in your row
Skip 2 CHs, make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs to complete this row
Row 2: Make 3 CHs
Skip 1 ST, make 1 BPDC over the next ST
Make 1 DC into the next ST
*Skip to the space between previous PF STs
Make 1 PF ST + 1 CH + 1 PF ST + 1 CH in that space
Skip to the next previous DC, make 1 BPDC over that DC
Repeat the steps above from * until you have some STs + CHs left in your row
Make 1 DC into the next previous DC
Make 1 BPDC over the next ST/DC
Make 1 DC into the tops of the CHs at the end of this row
Row 3: Make 3 CHs
Skip 1st ST, make 1 FPDC over the next ST/DC
Make 1 DC into the next ST
*Skip to the space between previous PF STs
Make 1 PF ST + 1 CH + 1 PF ST + 1 CH in that space
Skip to next previous BPDC, make 1 FPDC over that ST
Repeat the steps above from * until you have some STs + CHs left
Make 1 DC into the next ST
Make 1 FPDC over the next ST
Make 1 DC into the tops of the CHs at the end of this row to complete this row
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Hearts & Cables Stitch should look like when completed!
