Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Lace Fan Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stich (DC), tutorial here! And be familiar with the Classic Shell Stitch, tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 8 + 4
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 2 DC into the 4th CH from your hook, this counts as half a Shell
*Make 2 CHs, skip 3 CHs
Make 1 SC into the next CH
Make 2 CHs, skip 3 CHs
Make 5 DC into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 4 CHs left
Skip 3 CHs, make 3 DC into the last CH, these 3 count as a half of a shell
Row 2: Make 1 CH
Make 1 SC into the 1st ST
*Make 2 CHs, Skip previous CH space
Make 5 DC into next previous SC
Make 2 CHs, Skip previous CH space
Skip 2 STs from previous Shell of 5 DC, make 1 SC into the 3rd or middle DC
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 3 STs left
Skip 2 STs, make 1 SC into the last CHs/ST to complete
Row 3: CH 3
Make 2 DC into the 1st ST, to make that half Shell
*Make 2 CHs, skip previous CH space
Skip 2 STs from previous Shell of 5 DC, make 1 SC into the 3rd or middle DC
Make 2 CHs, skip previous CH space
Make 5 DC into previous SC ST
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 ST left
Make 3 DC into that last ST, to complete that half Shell
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Lace Fan Stitch should look like when completed!
