Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Modified Modern Granny Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Decrease (DC DEC), tutorial here! Be familiar with how to make the Granny Stripe Stitch, tutorial here! And be familiar with the Modern Granny Stitch, tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 3 + 1
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook
This is our Granny Stripe ST foundation row,
*Skip 2 CHs, make 3 DC into the next CH
Repeat the step above from * until you only have 3 CHs left
Skip 2 CHs, make 1 DC into that last CH to complete this row
Row 2: CH 3,
These 3 CHs count as 1 DC, so skip the 1st ST
Make 1 DC into the next ST
This is our 'Decrease' row, over each previous block of 3 DC
*So, you'll make a 3 DC DEC over the next 3 STs
Yarn over your hook 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through that ST, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only
yarn over your hook 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through that ST, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only
yarn over your hook 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through that ST, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only
You'll have 1 bottom of a DC made in each ST, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through all of the loops on your hook to complete that ST
Make 1 CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 ST + some CHs left
Make 1 DC into that last ST and 1 DC into the top of those last CHs to complete this row
Row 3: CH 3
These 3 CHs count as 1 DC, so skip the 1st ST
Make 1 DC into the next ST
This is our repeating Granny Stripe ST row
*Make 3 DC into the next ST/previous DC DEC ST
Repeat the step above from * until you only have 1 ST + some CHs left
Make 1 DC into that last ST and 1 DC into the top of those last CHs to complete this row
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 in order for however long you want your project
This is what the Modified Modern Granny Stitch should look like when completed!
