Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Open Bar Stitch!

 Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Open Bar Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Front Post Triple Crochet Stitch (FPTR), tutorial here!

 

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 5 + 3

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

 

Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 3rd CH from your hook

Make 1 DC into each of the next 2 CHs

*Make 2 CHs, skip 2 CHs

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

Repeat the steps above from  * until you reach the last CH in this row

Make 3 DC into that last CH to complete this row

Row 2: Make 1 CH

Make 1 SC into each ST and 2 SC into each CH space across to complete this row

Row 3: Make 3 CHs, these CHs count as 1 DC

*Make 1 FPTR over the next ST, not the SC from the last row, over the next DC from 2 rows down

Make 1 DC into the next ST

Make 2 CHs, to skip the next CH space

Make 1 DC into the next ST

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row

Row 4: Make 1 CH

Make 1 SC into each ST and 2 SC into each CH space across to complete this row

Row 5: Make 3 CHs, these CHs count as 1 DC, skip the 1st ST

Make 1 DC into each of the next 2 STs

*Make 2 CHs, skip the next CH space

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Repeat the steps above from * for he rest of this row

 

 

You would now repeat Rows 2, 3 4 & 5 in order for however long you want your project

This is what the Open Bar Stitch should look like when completed!
