Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Pique Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Pique Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! And how to make the Cluster Stitch (CL ST), tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, you can make any number of chains

Row 1: *Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook into the 3rd CH from your hook, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop

(You'll have 3 loops on your hook)

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through 2 loops only (this is the bottom of a DC)

(You'll have 2 loops on your hook)

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook back into that CH where you made the bottom of that DC, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop

(You'll have 4 loops on your hook)

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through all 4 loops on your hook to complete that Pique Stitch

You would now skip 1 CH, then start repeating the steps above from * until you only have 1 CH left

Make 2 HDC into that last CH to complete this row

Row 2: Make 2 CHs, these 2 CHs count as 1 HDC

So you can skip the 1st ST

In the next ST, make 1 HDC

For this row you'll be using the same steps as Row 1 to make the Pique Stitches, you'll make 1 in each ST across until you reach the last ST in this row
