Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Sprouting Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Triple Crochet Stitch (TR), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 4
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook
*Skip 3 CHs, make (1 TR, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 TR) all into the next CH
Repeat the step above until you only have 4 CHs left
Skip 3 CHs, make 2 TR into the last CH to complete this row
Row 2: Make 2 CHs, these CHs count as 1 HDC
Make 1 HDC into the 1st ST
*Skip to the middle of the next previous (TR, DC, DC, TR)
Make (1 DC, 1 HDC, 1 HDC, 1 DC) into that center space
Repeat the step above until you only have 1 ST + CHs left
Make 1 HDC into the last ST and 1 HDC into the top of those last CHs to complete this row
Row 3: Make 4 CHs, these CHs count as 1 TR
Make 1 TR into the 1st ST
*Skip to the middle of the next previous (DC, HDC, HDC, DC)
Make (1 TR, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 TR) into that center space
Repeat the step above until you only have 1 ST + CHs left
Make 1 TR into that last ST and 1 TR into the top of those last CHs to complete this row
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Sprouting Stitch should look like when completed!
