Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Stacked Iris Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Back Post Double Crochet Stitch (BPDC), tutorial here! How to make the Front Post Double Crochet Stitch (FPDC), tutorial here! And be familiar with the Iris Stitch, tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 8 + 5
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook, then a DC into the next CH
*Skip 2 CHs,
Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC into the next CH
Skip 2 CHs, make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
Row 2: Make 3 CHs
Skip 1 ST, make 1 BPDC over each of the next 2 STs
*Skip to next CH 1 space, make (2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC) into that space
Skip 2 STs, 1 BPDC over each of the next 3 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 2 DC, then 3 DC + some CHs left
Skip 2 DC, 1 BPDC over each of the next 2 STs
Make 1 DC into the last ST to complete this row
Row 3: Make 3 CHs
Skip 1 ST, 1 FPDC over each of the next 2 STs
*Skip to next CH 1 space, make (2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC) into that space
Skip 2 STs, 1 FPDC over each of the next 3 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 2 DC, then 3 DC + some CHs left
Skip 2 DC, 1 FPDC over each of the next 2 STs
Make 1 DC into the last ST to complete this row
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Stacked Iris Stitch should look like when completed!
