First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! And how to make Single Crochet Stitches (SC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make an off number of chains
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 2 SC into the 3rd CH from your hook
Skip 1 CH, make 2 SC into the next CH
*Skip 1 CH, make 2 SC into the next CH
Repeat the step above from * for the rest of this row
Row 2: Make 2 CHs
Skip 1 ST, make 2 SC into the next ST
*Skip 1 ST, make 2 SC into the next ST
Repeat the step above from * for the rest of this row
You would now repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project
This is what the Alternate Stitch should look like when completed!
