Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on my free crochet pattern: Squared Off Circle Motif!

First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning how to make this square.

There are several ways to start this motif. You can use the Magic Ring/Circle/Loop, I have a tutorial here! The Chain 4 method, I have a tutorial here! Or the Slip Stitch Method, I have a tutorial here!

I will be using the Chain 4 Method for my tutorial

For this pattern you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make a Slip Stitch (SL ST), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! The Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! And how to make Double Crochet Stitches (DC), I have a tutorial here!

CH 4, Make 1 DC into the 1st CH you made, the one farthest from your hook

Then work 10 more DC into that same CH to make a circle, SL ST into the top of the original CH 4 to complete this row

(Total of 12, the 3 CHs + 11 DC in the CH)

CH 3, this counts as 1 DC

1 DC into the 1st ST, so that CH 3 and 1 DC count as 2 DC in the same ST

2 DC into the next ST

2 DC in the next ST, make 2 in each ST around, SL ST into the top of the original CH 3 to complete this row

CH 3, this counts as 1 DC

1 DC into 1st ST, so that CH 3 and 1 DC count as 2 DC in the same ST

1 DC in the next ST

2 DC into the next ST

1 DC in the next ST

Repeat 2 DC into the next ST, then 1 DC in the next ST around, SL ST into the top of the original CH 3 to complete this row

I Fasten Off my work here to add a new color, Fasten Off tutorial here!

You can attach this new color to any ST, CH 3, counts as 1 DC

1 DC into same ST as CH 3 just made

CH 1

1 DC into that same ST

1 more DC into that same ST, this will create our first corner

*1 HDC into the next ST

1 HDC into the next ST

1 SC into the next 3 STs

1 HDC into the next ST

1 HDC into the next ST

We've come to our next corner

1 DC into the next ST

1 DC into that same ST as the DC just made

CH 1

1 DC into that same ST

1 DC into that same ST

You would then start repeating from * for the rest of this row, SL ST into the top of the original CH 3 to complete this row

CH 2, counts as 1 HDC

1 HDC into corner space

CH 2

1 HDC into same corner space

1 HDC into same corner space

1 HDC into next ST

*1 HDC into each ST across until you meet the next corner space

1 HDC into open corner space

1 HDC into open corner space

CH 2

1 HDC into same open corner space

1 HDC into same open corner space

You would then start repeating from * for the rest of this row, SL ST into the top of the original CH 2 to complete this row

This is what the Squared Off Circle Motif should look like when completed!
