Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: The Windsor Join!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Windsor Join to bring any crochet motifs together!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this join.

For my example SQs, I used this tutorial here!

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make a Slip Knot, tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to work in the Front Loops, tutorial here! And how to work in the Back Loops, tutorial here!

To start, make a Slip Knot

Insert your hook into the top corners where your motifs meet

Add the Slip Knot to your hook

Bring the Slip Knot through those 2 corners

Make a CH to secure it

Into the 1st ST of the motif closest to you, insert your hook into the back loop

Into the 1st ST of the motif farthest from you, insert your hook into the front loop

Since they are both the 1st stitches they should line up

This is where you would make a Slip Stitch like normal

*Line up the next stitches,

Into the next ST of the motif closest to you, insert your hook into the back loop

Into the next ST of the motif farthest from you, insert your hook into the front loop

This is where you would make a Slip Stitch like normal

Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the next corners

Insert your hook into both corners

Grab the yarn you're working with

Pull it through and make a Slip Stitch like normal

Then make a CH to secure it

This is what the Windsor Join should look like when completed!
