Free Crochet Pattern: Star Struck Afghan!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a new free pattern from me! My Star Struck Afghan Pattern is similar to a regular granny square blanket, but with one extra step!

Only 2 stitches in a square pattern!

Pretty and works up quickly!

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:

 

Materials:

Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example blanket

Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example blanket – 5.5 MM

Scissors

Stitch Markers

 

Notes:

I Fasten Off each row to change colors:

To keep your square straight, flip your work every row

 

Crochet Stitches Needed:

Chain – CH

Stitch – ST

Skip – SK

Pattern:

Pick your favorite way to start a circle or square, playlist above!

 

Reg Granny Row:

Row 1: Make circle, CH 3, 2 DC into center of circle, CH 3, *3 DC into circle, CH 3, Repeat from * 2 more times, SL ST into first DC stitch made in this row

 

Reg Granny Row:

Row 2: (Start at corner space) CH 3, 2 DC into the same space, CH 3, 3 DC into same corner space, *CH 1, SK to next corner space, (3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC) all into that next space, repeat from *, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made in this row

 

Spiked Granny Row:

Row 3: (Start at corner space) CH 3, 2 DC into that space, CH 3, 2 DC into that same space, *CH 1, SK 3 STs, 1 DC into next open space, 1 DC Spike into the ST below from row 2, 1 regular DC into same space, CH 1, SK 3 STs, (3 DC, CH 3, 3DC) into that next corner space, repeat from *, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made in this row

 

Spiked Granny Row:

Row 4: Repeat Row 3

 

You would now repeat Row 2 for 2 rows

Then repeat Row 3 for 2 rows

for how big you want your blanket

 

End your blanket on 2 Granny Rows to keep your afghan from bowing on the edges
