First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Wattle Stitch, tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 3
I made 150 chains for my example blanket
Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook
Make 1 CH
Then make 1 DC into the same CH as the SC you made
*Skip 2 CHs, (1 SC, CH 1, 1 DC) into the next CH
Repeat the step above from * until you have 4 CHs left in this row
Skip 2 CHs, make 1 SC into the next CH
Make 1 CH
Then make 1 DC into the last CH to complete this row
Row 2: Make 2 CHs
Work (1 SC, CH 1, 1 DC) into each previous CH 1 space across, until you have 1 ST left in this row
Then work 1 SC into the last ST of this row to complete
You would now repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project
This is what the Hazy Melody Afghan should look like when completed!
