Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Holographic Hexagon Blanket!
First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket.
For this tutorial you’ll need to know how to make Chains (CH)! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorialhere! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorialhere!
This blanket is made up of hexagons joined together. To start hexagons we will make circles that turn into hexagons. There are several ways to start circles. I have a playlist here with several tutorials. Pick which one you are most comfortable with to start.
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make your circle, then make 3 CHs
I made 4 CHs, the CH farthest from my hook with count as my 'circle space'
Make 1 DC into your circle
I'm making mine into the farthest CH from my hook
These CHs + DC count as 2 DC
*Make 2 CHs (1st corner)
Make 2 DC into your center circle space
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 6 sets of 2 DC and 6 sets of CH 2 corners
SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row to complete
Row 2: Start at any corner space, make 5 CHs
3 of these CHs count as 1 DC, the other 2 are for our new corner space
Make 1 DC into the same corner space
*Make 1 DC into each ST across until you reach another corner space
As your Hexagon gets bigger you'll have more STs to work into across
Into the next corner space: 1 DC, CH 2, 1 DC
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the 1st CHs you made in this row, SL ST into those CHS to complete this row
Repeat row 2 for however big you want your Hexagons
Notes:
I made 4 rows for each hexagon of my example blanket
I made 104 hexagons for my example blanket
This blanket came out to be a throw size afghan
Make as many hexagons as you want for the size of blanket you want
Then you'll join your hexagons together,
I used the Windsor Join for my example blanket, tutorial here!
But there are so many joins you could make, I have more tutorials here if you are interested!
On 2 sides of your blanket you'll have these half hexagon spaces to fill. I have a video tutorial here and step by step photo tutorial here for these half hexagons.
This is what your Holographic Hexagon Blanketshould look like when completed!
