Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a new free pattern from me! My Stylish Patchwork Crochet Afghan is a fun twist to a regular granny square blanket!

There are so many possibilities with this blanket! I'd love to see it in different color stories and styles! This blanket combines regular granny squares with granny stripe rows for a fresh vibe!

With the different stitches represented throughout this pattern, there is so much texture and life in this blanket!

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:

 

Materials:

Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example afghan

Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example afghan – 5.5 MM

Scissors

Stitch Markers

Crochet Stitches Needed:

Chain – CH

Stitch – ST

Skip – SK

Pattern:

Using my Basic Granny Square Pattern listed above, make 4 granny squares with 4 rows each, then attach them in a square using the Slip Stitch Joining method listed above

Using my Basic Granny Square Pattern listed above, make 20 granny squares with 2 rows each, then attach them around the previous granny squares using the Slip Stitch Joining method listed above

3 rows of Granny Stripe Stitch around the previous granny squares just joined (Tutorial listed above)

Using my Basic Granny Square Pattern listed above, make 24 granny squares with 3 rows each, then attach them around the previous Granny Stripe Stitch rows using the Slip Stitch Joining method listed above

3 rows of Granny Stripe Stitch around the previous granny squares just joined (Tutorial listed above)

Using my Basic Granny Square Pattern listed above, make 52 granny squares with 2 rows each, then attach them around the previous Granny Stripe Stitch rows using the Slip Stitch Joining method listed above

13 rows of Granny Stripe Stitch around the previous granny squares just joined (Tutorial listed above)

Border:

Row 1: Starting at a corner, *1 DC in each ST along a Granny Block, 2 DC in open space between Granny Blocks, repeat for any side. At corners: 2D DC, CH 2, 2 DC in corner space

Row 2: Starting at a corner, SK 2 STs, *1 PC, CH 1, 1 DC in next ST, 1 DC in next ST, CH 3, SL ST into top of DC just made, 1 DC in next ST, repeat from * for any side. At corners: 3 DC, CH 4, SL ST into top of last DC made, 3 DC all in the same corner space.
