Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Fairy Lights Afghan!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket pattern
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!

This blanket is made from a bunch of Blocked Granny Squares joined together

Row 1: Start with 4 CHs

Make 2 DC into the 4th CH from your hook

*CH 2

Make 3 DC into same center circle space as 1st DCs made

Repeat from * around until you have 4 sides of 3 DC and 4 corners of CH 2s

Then SL ST into the 1st CHs you made to complete this row

Row 2: Flip your square to the back,
Start at any previous corner space, make 4 CHs

Make 1 SC into the same corner space

*Make 3 CHs, skip to the next corner space

Make: 1 SC, CH 3, 1 SC into that corner space

Repeat from * around until you reach the 1st CHs you made in this row

SL ST into those 1st CHs to complete this row

Row 3: Flip your square to the front,
Start at any previous corner space, make 3 CHs, these CHs count as 1 DC
Make 2 DC into the same corner space

Make 2 CHs

Make 3 DC into the same corner space

*Side: Make 3 DC into each CH space across until you reach the next corner space

Corner space: Make 3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC

Repeat from * around until you reach the 1st CHs you made in this row
SL ST into those 1st CHs to complete this row
Row 4: Flip your square to the back,
Start at any previous corner space, make 4 CHs

Make 1 SC into that same corner space

*Side: Make 3 CHs, skip 3 STs

Make 1 SC into the space between STs

Repeat these steps from * until you reach the next corner space

Corner space: Make 1 SC, CH 3, 1 SC

Repeat from * around until you reach the 1st CHs you made in this row

SL ST into those 1st CHs to complete this row
Alternate between rows 3 & 4 until you reach the desired size of your squares
- I made 6 rows for each square
- I joined my squares using the Mesh Stitch Join As You Go Method:

For the JAYG method:
I made my 1st SQ with 6 rows total, then used the JAYG method to join the rest together
- I made a total of 72 squares (8X9)
- You can use any join you want for your blanket, I have a playlist featuring more here!
