Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Fairy Lights Afghan!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket pattern

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!

Repeat from * around until you have 4 sides of 3 DC and 4 corners of CH 2s

Then SL ST into the 1st CHs you made to complete this row

Row 2: Flip your square to the back,

Make 1 SC into that same corner space

*Side: Make 3 CHs, skip 3 STs

Make 1 SC into the space between STs

Repeat these steps from * until you reach the next corner space

Corner space: Make 1 SC, CH 3, 1 SC

Repeat from * around until you reach the 1st CHs you made in this row

SL ST into those 1st CHs to complete this row

Alternate between rows 3 & 4 until you reach the desired size of your squares

  • I made 6 rows for each square
  • I joined my squares using the Mesh Stitch Join As You Go Method:
  • Video tutorial here and step by step photo tutorial here!

For the JAYG method:
I made my 1st SQ with 6 rows total, then used the JAYG method to join the rest together

  • I made a total of 72 squares (8X9)
  • You can use any join you want for your blanket, I have a playlist featuring more here!

This is what my Fairy Lights Afghan should look like when completed!
