This square would be amazing for so many different projects!
Easy to make, very beginner friendly!

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example square
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example square – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Notes:

Colors:
Row 1: Yellow
Row 2: White/Cream
Row 3: Any color you choose
4 in. X 4 in.
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK

Pattern:
Pick your favorite way to start a circle, playlist above!
Row 1: Make circle, then make 8 SC into that circle space, SL ST into the 1st SC you made to complete this row
Row 2: (Start at any ST) CH 4, 3 TR CL ST into same ST, *CH 2, 4 TR CL ST into next ST, CH 3, 4 TR CL ST into next ST, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made to complete this row
You should have 8 ‘petals’
Row 3: (Start at any previous CH 3 space) CH 4, 2 TR into same space, CH 3, 3 TR into same space, *SK to next CH space, make 3 DC into that CH space, SK to next CH space, make (3 TR, CH 3, 3 TR) into that CH space, repeat from * around, SL ST into the 1st CHs you made to complete this row
